Print the Healthy Convention Guide

Stress can impact every system of our bodies. So as we approach Convention time, we want to give you a self-care list because we want you to feel your best.

PRINT this Guide and begin these self-care practices ASAP!

Enjoy these health tips from our practitioners to keep you feeling great in Salt Lake City…

What to eat:

There are plenty wonderful places to eat in Salt Lake City… but imagine thousands of people trying to eat all at once in a 2 hour time frame! This makes your food strategy pretty important. Luckily, we have tips to share with you…

We suggest getting a room with a refrigerator and buying your lunches at the grocery store.

Another option for eating is to order UberEats and have a picnic on your break.

Recommended Restaurants:

Suggested Snacks:

Pack lots of brain-feeding foods. We love to bring sprouted sunflower seeds, coconut water, kombucha, chocolate, macadamia nuts, raw veggies, fruit, your LLV vitamins, etc. Many of us like to eat lunch as a picnic outside and connect with team members and friends. You can go to Whole Foods and get snacks and lunch stuff if you need to.

Drink plenty of Water:

Stay Hydrated! Utah is at a higher elevation than a lot of the country... so you may get dehydrated more easily and might even get a headache. It’s also important to note that the water served in the convention center is not amazing. Good Water with electrolytes added will save you from headaches and keep you hydrated in the high altitude of Utah!

Events at Convention:

Gala:

doTERRA Gala is a celebration of hardworking Wellness Advocates who reach their rank goals.

This is a chance to dress in your fancy clothes and come celebrate the Diamonds and above as they walk the purple carpet!

This year we have a VERY special surprise guest, not to be missed!

You also get a limited edition oil blend only available at the Gala. They have a big dance party after all the celebrations! It’s really fun. Get your Gala ticket Here.

Team Party:

Traveling with Oils:

“I always take my oils with me. I try to fit them in a ziplock bag and carry them on the plane. Never had any trouble. If I want to take more oils, then I check them in my bag.” - Arin Fugate

Recommended oils and products to pack:

PastTense - Headaches and sore necks
Peppermint - Headaches, fresh breathe and energy boost

(Start taking some Onguard daily leading up to convention.)

AromaTouch - Apply to the bottom of your feet daily to avoid foot pain from all the walking.
Breathe - Diffuse Breathe + Serenity in your hotel room at night for better sleep and open airways.
Serenity - If your hotel has a tub, consider a night Epsom Salt & Serenity bath for soothing stress.
Serenity Softgels - The first night in a new place take these. They help you sleep and soothe stress.

Cost & Budgeting:

Budgeting for Convention? Expect to spend about $1400, depending on the type of swag you’re buying at the event. This is an average based on air travel, lodging, food, Convention Ticket, and Convention Kit.

Remember that this is a tax write-off, so save your receipts! It's an educational business trip.

You can and will spend more if you buy SWAG.

If you’ve not been to Convention before, you’ll want to be sure to stick to your budget as there are so many fun goodies! It is a great time to take notes on what you what in the future and smartly plan it all out for next time. (Then promise yourself you’ll stick to your budget. Double promise.)

A few notes on the Convention Kit: Budget for a convention kit to get all the new products they will be announcing. (way before anyone else does)!

  • Not an LRP, but DOES earn points!

  • There is typically a limit (usually 2 kits per person) and the account holder must be present to purchase. Consider buying the maximum. One for yourself and more to share.

  • Pick up ASAP (you will be able to order on your phone)

  • Great to sample out to customers when you get home!

  • It is a tax write off!

  • Schedule a unboxing party for when you get home to share the experience with your team and community. This is a fun way to help your friends experience the oils.

A few more tips for while you’re at the event:

Note-Taking:

You will take more notes than you ever did in College! Come with the most effective note taking plan for you. Some use Ipads, they usually give us a notebook, but for sure bring pens, cameras, etc. to document all the great info! Days or weeks later you’ll want to remember that scientific study, that inspiring quote, that fact…and good note tanking will help you get what you need out of this experience!

What to wear:

It will be Fall in SLC, but we will be indoors all day. Bring layers and comfy shoes. Apply AromaTouch, Onguard, Balance and Deep Blue to the bottom of your feet each day. This will keep you out of foot pain, it will keep you healthy and more grounded. You will be sitting all day too so comfortable clothing that you can breathe in is important. In some of the rooms it can get really warm, and in some it will really cold. Plan for flexibility and comfort so that you can truly enjoy Convention! A cushion to sit on is helpful too.

 Transportation:

You can use Uber, Lyft, or the public tram. SLC also has rentable bikes and scooters. Note that the city blocks are bigger than normal city blocks. 2 SLC blocks are 4 regular blocks!

 After Convention:

  • Share your notes with your team and customers

  • Host a Convention Kit Party - let everyone sniff and try the new products!

  • Go to a post convention tour event. Cities and dates released after convention.

Watching Convention from home? We have tips for you, too!
